How to Make Edible Arrangements

If you are looking for a unique gift for someone special consider an edible arrangement made from fresh fruits. Fruit bouquets make perfect gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and is a romantic gift for Valentines Day.

Steps by step guide:

Step 1: Think of a bouquet design. You can make it very simple, like chocolate covered strawberries which can be a very stunning bouquet or you can use combinations of varying fruits and cut them in different shapes and your bouquet will be more complex. Imagine your bouquet theme, what colors you will use and the size of your bouquet.

Step 2: Depending on the size and theme of your fruit arrangement choose a container, vase or basket. Wash and dry the container.

Step 3: Put florist’s foam, play dough or a lettuce head in the bottom of your container. If you are using foam wrap it with foil or plastic wrap to keep it away from food and cover it with lettuce leaves to hide the foam.

Step 4: After you decided what fruits you want to use in you arrangement, wash them and dry them on a paper towel.

Step 5: Prepare skewers in different length in order to construct your fruit arrangement. You will be putting each piece of fruit on a separate skewer (not including grapes, cubes of pineapples or melons).

Step 6: Slice pineapple, melon or watermelon into half inch thick pieces, and make butterflies, hearts or flowers by pressing cookie cutters into flat round pieces of fruits.

Step 7: Cut melon in half, using a spoon remove the seeds. Scoop out round balls of melon using melon baller.

If you use instruments for carving you can make really beautiful shapes
out of fruits.

Step 8: Add some strawberries in your edible arrangement. It always brings some colorfulness to it. You can even make them more attractive if you cover them in chocolate. In order to bring out an even greater effect, combine white and dark chocolate. Use your imagination for better outcome.

Step 9: Position each piece of fruit on skewers. If you are using grapes, skewer them on stick and alternate the colors of grapes for better result.

Step 10:
Insert skewers with fruits into foam inside the container. Angle the sticks when you are positioning them into foam and cut them shorter if you need. Do not be afraid to implement your own designs, improvise, there are no rules.

Step 11: When your fruit bouquet is finished cover it with transparent plastic and put the arrangement in the refrigerator until you are ready to present it.
